The immune system is one area where many want extra support. A lot of factors play into immune health, including diet, exercise, genetics and environment. And while some of these cannot be changed, things like diet and lifestyle can definitely make a difference.

A good diet that includes antioxidant rich foods like fruits and vegetables is a great start to keeping our immune system healthy. But if you struggle with getting a high antioxidant diet, a supplement may be worth considering.

Vitamin D is known to promote calcium absorption and calcium transport to bones, and vitamin A is known to support eye health, night vision and skin health. But a combination of the two has been shown to influence the immune response in very specific ways. For example, they support lymphocyte activation and proliferation, T-helper-cell differentiation, and the production of specific antibody isotypes. These important fat-soluble vitamins have hormone-like properties and work together to provide immune and inflammation support. Pathway Vitamins A & D provides 10,000 IU of vitamin A and 400 IU of vitamin D3 derived from fish liver oil, in one softgel.

Zinc is also a nutrient that is important for immunity. It is a mineral co-factor in hundreds of enzymatic reactions related to protein and carbohydrate metabolism, RNA/DNA synthesis and intercellular signaling. Zinc is essential to the normal function of many organs and systems within the body, supporting healthy immune, skeletal, neurological and endocrine function. Pathway L-OptiZinc pairs zinc with the amino acid L-methionine for enhanced absorption, better retention, and greater benefit in the body as compared to over forms of zinc.

These two immune health products are part of our new Pathway line at Village Green. But please consult with your primary care practitioner before taking any new supplement.
