$272.00 $340.00
Cellular Micronutrient Assay This comprehensive nutritional analysis measures over 50 micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and other key nutrients) at the cellular level. Compared to serum testing, which only gives a snapshot of one’s nutrient status, cellular testing provides insight into long-term, functional nutritional status. Why is this test important? Nutrients are vital to health and are required for every metabolic process in the body. Insufficiencies can negatively affect health and play a role in compromising immune health and setting the stage for degenerative processes, such as arthritis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. Nutrient requirements are unique to each individual and are impacted by many factors, such as diet, age, digestion and absorption, medications, stress, genetics, pregnancy, activity levels, illnesses, sleep patterns, and toxin levels. Even normal metabolic processes, such as eating food, can produce free radicals. An overload or accumulation of free radicals causes oxidative stress, which has been shown to be an underlying factor in the aging process, chronic inflammation, as well as in the development of degenerative diseases. One of the body’s most important mechanisms for combating oxidative stress is by utilizing antioxidants, which can neutralize free radicals and protect cells against damage. For optimal protection, antioxidant resources must continually be restored via diet and/or supplementation. The Antioxidant Protection Assay measures your cell’s resistance to oxidative stress, determines your overall antioxidant capacity, and provides you with specific antioxidant nutrients that can improve your antioxidant capacity and best protect your cells from oxidative damage. This lab package includes a comprehensive GI analysis that is reviewed and interpreted by a Naturopathic physician. Based on your lab results and a health questionnaire, Dr. Courtney Roberts will provide you with recommendations to support your health, including a customized herbal formula.* Whether you are experiencing uncomfortable GI symptoms, such as gas, bloating, or IBS, or have other ongoing health concerns, such as asthma, eczema, anxiety, or an autoimmune condition, assessing and supporting optimal gut function is essential. The gut is at the very core of health and wellness, as it performs many critical roles that impact the whole body and all of its systems. GI dysfunction, bacterial imbalances, and nutrient deficiencies are some of the key drivers and underlying causes of chronic health issues. Not only is the GI system responsible for digesting and absorbing nutrients, but it also provides a substantial amount of immune protection and neurotransmitter production. In addition, the gut’s complex microbiome plays a significant role in overall health and resiliency. By examining all of the key areas of the gastrointestinal system - digestion/absorption, intestinal barrier health, microbiome balance, and immune/inflammation levels - an individualized approach can be taken to restore balance and optimize health. Often in conventional medicine, once a diagnosis is made regarding a GI concern, symptoms are treated according to the condition, not the individual. As a result, the root causes can be missed. In functional medicine, there is no one-size-fits-all protocol. Each person is unique and so is their healing plan. Assessments and functional lab testing help to provide a clear picture of underlying root causes so that recommendations can be tailored specifically to the person. This Lab Package Includes: Digestive Health Panel – A non-invasive, at-home stool test that provides detailed information about digestion, absorption, bacterial balance, yeast overgrowth, inflammation, metabolic activity, and immune function. Your test kit will be shipped to your home with complete instructions. This test evaluates: Bacteria levels (beneficial and pathogenic) Yeast culture Digestion/Absorption: Elastase Fat stain Muscle fibers Vegetable fibers Carbohydrates Inflammation: Lactoferrin Calprotectin Lysozyme White blood cells Mucus Immunology: SIgA Short chain fatty acids: Acetate Propionate Butyrate Valerate Total SCFA’s Intestinal health markers: Occult blood Red blood cells pH Symptom Questionnaire and Health Intake Form – After ordering this lab package, you will receive an email with a link to complete a symptoms questionnaire and health intake form. SIBO Breath Test
LAB TEST SIBO Breath Test
$248.00 $310.00
$248.00 $310.00
Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is a common condition where there is an abnormal increase in the number of bacteria in the small intestine, which can cause a variety of digestive symptoms. Normally, the small intestine has a small number of bacteria, but in SIBO, the bacteria from the colon migrate upward and grow in the small intestine. This can lead to symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, malabsorption of nutrients, and intestinal permeability (leaky gut). Underlying factors that can contribute to the development of SIBO include impaired small bowel motility (due neurologic disorders), structural abnormalities (from Crohn’s disease), medications (such as PPIs – proton pump inhibitors used to treat acid reflux), weakened immunity, and certain dietary factors. This non-invasive breath test can help to determine the presence of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. It involves drinking a solution of lactulose, a type of sugar that is not fully digested in the small intestine, but is instead fermented by bacteria. As the bacteria ferment the lactulose, they produce gases such as hydrogen and methane, which are then exhaled and measured in the breath. This test measures the levels of these gases over a period of 3 hours. Abnormal levels of hydrogen and/or methane in the breath can indicate the presence of SIBO. Test Type: Breath test A test kit will be mailed to you from our lab partner, DHA Laboratory, that contains detailed preparation and collection instructions. Results: Test results will be emailed to you from DHA Laboratory in approximately 7-10 business days. Glyphosate is the world’s most widely used herbicide and is the active ingredient in the popular brand, Roundup. It has been declared a likely carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer of the World Health Organization. Studies show that glyphosate exposure is associated with many chronic health conditions, including cancer, reproductive and developmental problems, autoimmune conditions, autism, diabetes, disruptions in the gut microbiome, and more. Corn, soy, wheat, canola, sugar beets, and almonds are examples of foods most commonly treated with glyphosate. Eating non-GMO foods and drinking reverse osmosis water are two of the best ways to avoid glyphosate. A recent study showed that people eating organic food had considerably lower concentrations of glyphosate in their urine. In addition, drinking extra water can also be beneficial since glyphosate is water soluble. This non-invasive lab test can measure glyphosate levels in your body. Determining the route of introduction and avoiding future exposure are important aspects of treatment. Test Type: This test is done at-home via urine sample collected first thing in the morning, ideally prior to eating or drinking anything. Detailed instructions will be included inside your test kit. Please note: All tests are authorized and reviewed by a physician from our partner laboratory. Sample Test Report Results: In approximately 14 business days, DHA Laboratory will email you your test results. Pyrrole Analysis
LAB TEST Pyrrole Analysis
$112.00 $140.00
$112.00 $140.00
Pyrrole Analysis Pyrrole disorder, or pyroluria, is a common stress disorder in children and adults that is caused by a genetic abnormality in biochemistry where the body creates too many pyrrole molecules. Pyrroles are byproducts of hemoglobin synthesis, have little or no function in the body, and are excreted in the urine. However, because pyrroles have a strong affinity for binding to vitamin B6 and zinc, excessive amounts of pyrrole molecules can cause a dramatic deficiency of these nutrients and increase oxidative stress. This of course can have a profound impact on one’s mental and physical well-being. Pyroluria is frequently identified in behavior disorders, autism, Asperger’s, ADHD, ADD, depression, bipolar disorders, assaultive/aggressive/violent behavior, schizophrenia and other mental and emotional conditions. Pyroluria can create poor tolerance of physical and emotional stress, poor anger control, emotional mood swings, depression, anxiety, poor short-term memory, frequent infections, inability to tan, poor dream recall, abnormal fat distribution, sensitivity to light and sound and tactile sensitivities. Measuring pyrrole levels in the urine is a non-invasive way to identify pyrrole disorder. If pyrrole levels are elevated, a customized nutrient protocol can be created to correct imbalances and address oxidative stress. Retesting pyrrole levels in approximately 2-3 months after starting a nutrient protocol can be helpful to monitor progress. This test is also included in our Brain Chemistry Panel. Test Type: Urine Collection - A test kit will be mailed to you along with detailed collection instructions from our lab partner, DHA Laboratory. Results: Results for this test can take 3-5 business days. DHA Laboratory will email your results to you. We strongly recommend that for this test, you consult with a practitioner that has specific knowledge of pyrrole disorder and advanced nutrient therapy. For a detailed interpretation of your results as well as customized recommendations, please schedule a consultation with a Village Green nutritionist.
